Current relevance:
The Telecom Regulatory
Authority of India (TRAI) has launched a revamped version of the ‘TRAI
MyCall’ mobile application to enable telecom consumers to assess and report
their voice-calling experience.
Highlights:
1.
TRAI MyCall
is a citizen-centric mobile application that enables telecom consumers to
provide real-time feedback on their voice-calling experience along with
relevant network parameters.
2. Objective:
Aims to strengthen consumer participation, help identify network deficiencies,
support corrective action by Telecom Service Providers (TSPs), and
improve the overall Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience
(QoE).
3. Consumer
Feedback Mechanism:
Consumer feedback is shared with Telecom Service Providers (TSPs)
and TRAI in an anonymised form, providing valuable insights for
evidence-based regulatory oversight and network performance improvement.
4. Consumer-Friendly
Functionalities:
·
Instant voice-call rating
through a 1–5-star feedback system.
·
Reporting of call-related issues, including call drops, echo, audio delay, cross connection, voice
breaking, one-way audio, and delayed call connection.
·
Automatic post-call
feedback prompts.
·
Interactive map
showing rating and feedback history.
·
Coverage Test
feature to assess signal strength.
5. The initiative reinforces TRAI's commitment to a transparent,
accountable, consumer-responsive, and data-driven telecom ecosystem, with
consumer participation playing a central role in improving mobile communication
services.
