P.L. Raj Memorial Study Circle โ the first institution started by a woman in Tamil Nadu to train youngsters for civil service examinations โ was founded by Ms. Kumareswari Periyasami in memory of Mr. P. Lingaraj, a man with a vision to serve the nation.
While preparing for civil service, Ms. Kumareswari saw the suffering of visionary students from economically weaker sections who were unable to access quality education for civil service preparation due to indebtedness. She began educating them informally from 2004.
She started P.L. Raj Memorial Study Circle in 2006, training youngsters for central and state services with the thought of uplifting the country and bringing equality in society. She worked with NGOs for the cause of women and neglected children and served as chief editor of Youth India.
After she entered government service, the institution continued to be run by family members and students inspired by the thoughts of nation building, with her honorary guidance.

A Visionary's Memory
Mr. P. Lingaraj
A Man with a Vision to Serve the Nation
Mr. P. Lingaraj was born in Sivaloor, Udangudi in Tuticorin district to Thiru Periyasami and Smt. Sundarapushpam. As a visionary, he identified that lack of integrity and official negligence were major reasons for poverty and misery.
He wanted to uproot these issues by educating youth to serve the nation with clean hands. He encouraged them to take up service-oriented examinations and dedicate their lives to nation-building activities.
He organized youth camps, skill training programmes and sports events and encouraged parents in his locality to educate their children. He rendered exemplary service to the rural people of Udangudi in Tuticorin and Udumalaipet in Tirupur district.
He encouraged his younger sister Ms. Kumareswari to enter civil services and serve under-developed parts of the country, especially the North Eastern states and Jammu and Kashmir. Unfortunately, he passed away due to renal failure in 2001 โ but his vision lives on through this academy.
