Current relevance:
The Principal Scientific Adviser to the
Government of India, launched the RSVC-AMRIT platform on the occasion of
the 80th Independence Day. Developed by NABARD in collaboration with the Office
of the Principal Scientific Adviser (OPSA), the platform provides the digital
backbone of the RuTAGe Smart Village Centre (RSVC) ecosystem for promoting
rural innovation, technology transfer and wider adoption of appropriate
technologies.
Highlights:
Objectives of RSVC-AMRIT:
1.
Bridge Rural Technology Gaps: Connect rural needs with appropriate innovations, institutions and
implementation mechanisms.
2. Technology Dissemination: Facilitate wider
adoption of suitable technologies and take innovation closer to the last
mile.
3. Digital Integration: Create a
comprehensive digital ecosystem supporting the complete lifecycle of RSVC
activities.
4. Stakeholder Collaboration: Bring innovators,
startups, technology providers, academic institutions, funding agencies,
implementation partners and rural communities onto a shared platform.
5. Knowledge Management: Facilitate
systematic management and sharing of information relating to rural innovations
and technologies.
Key Features of AMRIT:
1.
It acts as the digital backbone of the RSVC ecosystem.
2.
Supports the complete technology lifecycle from technology discovery
and validation to deployment tracking.
3.
Facilitates collaboration, monitoring and knowledge management.
4.
Adds a digital layer to the physical village-level outreach of
RSVCs.
5.
Expected to evolve into a national repository of rural innovations,
technologies, best practices and collaboration opportunities.
RuTAGe Smart Village Centre (RSVC)
Ecosystem:
1.
RSVCs function as village-level technology hubs for transferring
appropriate and affordable technologies to rural communities.
2.
Technologies are sourced from research institutions, innovators and
startups.
3.
RSVCs cover areas such as agriculture, rural enterprises, renewable
energy, education, assistive technologies, water and sanitation, and citizen
services.
4.
Eight RSVCs are currently being supported by NABARD.
5.
New RSVCs will be supported by NABARD and established in
collaboration with corporates through CSR initiatives, with NABFOUNDATION
serving as the implementation partner.
Significance:
1.
Last-Mile Innovation: Helps take scientific and technological solutions
closer to rural communities.
2.
Rural Technology Adoption: Addresses the challenge of connecting India's
innovation ecosystem with actual rural requirements.
3.
Institutional Convergence: Creates linkages among innovators, research
institutions, startups, funding agencies, implementation partners and
communities.
4.
Scalable Rural Development: Combines physical RSVC hubs with AMRIT's digital
infrastructure, potentially enabling wider dissemination of technologies.
5.
Viksit Bharat 2047: Wider adoption of appropriate technologies and rural
innovations supports the broader vision of technology-led rural development
and Viksit Bharat 2047.
