India Optel Limited (IOL), a Mini Ratna Category-I Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Department of
Defence Production, launched the indigenous ‘GARUD’ High Resolution Binoculars for the civilian market on 13 August 2026 in New Delhi.

GARUD:
1.
GARUD is an indigenously designed and manufactured high-resolution
binocular developed for the civil market.
2. It is developed and manufactured by Ordnance
Factory, Dehradun, a unit of India Optel Limited.
3. It draws upon a binocular platform that has been used by the Defence Forces and Central Armed Police Forces under demanding operational conditions.
4. Its launch marks IOL's entry into
the civilian optics market.

features:
1.
It offers 8× magnification,
enabling users to view distant objects with greater clarity and detail for effective long-range observation.
2. It comes with a ±5 diopter
adjustment, allowing users to fine-tune the focus
according to individual eyesight requirements for clearer and more comfortable
viewing.
3. The binoculars feature soft-touch
eyecups and an ergonomic
grip for comfortable handling, while their weather-resistant construction supports reliable outdoor use under varied conditions.
4. Weighing approximately 610 grams, GARUD has a compact and
portable design that makes it easy to carry
while maintaining dependable
optical performance.
