Current relevance:

The IndiaAI Mission organised a workshop on AIKosh, the national platform for datasets, AI models and related resources, in New Delhi.


Highlights:

About AIKosh:

1.        National AI Platform: AIKosh is a national platform for datasets, AI models and related resources under the IndiaAI Mission.

2.      Purpose: It enables greater discoverability, access and responsible use of AI-ready resources for India's AI ecosystem.

3.      Current Resources: The platform hosts over 15,000 datasets, 300 AI models and 30 toolkits.

4.      Beneficiaries: It enables researchers, startups, developers and students to develop AI solutions using trusted national resources.

5.      Sovereign AI: Unlocking the value of India's data assets is considered important for strengthening India's sovereign AI capabilities, innovation and national development.

 

Key Focus Areas:

1.        Data Governance: Develop mechanisms for lawful and responsible sharing of data.

2.      Data Harmonisation: Make data more discoverable, understandable, interoperable and securely accessible.

3.      Privacy Protection: Strengthen privacy-preserving mechanisms for accessing and exchanging AI-ready data.

4.      Developer Ecosystem: Identify the datasets, platforms and data architecture required for AI applications and foundational models suited to India's context.

5.      Sectoral Applications: Priority use cases and datasets were explored in Health & Lifesciences, Agriculture & Livelihoods, and Education, Science & Technology.


Institutional Collaboration:

1.        IndiaAI–NeGD–CDPI/IIIT-B MoU: Cooperation will strengthen India's AI and Digital Public Infrastructure ecosystem.

2.      The partnership will provide technical, architectural, policy and knowledge support to India AI and NeGD.

3.      It will support population-scale AI-enabled governance solutions and seamless, secure exchange of AI-ready datasets, models and resources through AIKosh.

4.      IndiaAI–EkStep Foundation MoU: Seeks to promote collective intelligence, scalable and cost-efficient AI operating systems, open-gate models, platforms and solutions.

5.      These partnerships aim to enable accessible and impactful AI innovation at scale.


Significance:

1.        AI-Ready Data Ecosystem: Provides a common national platform connecting data resources with India's AI ecosystem.

2.      Responsible AI: Privacy-preserving data exchange and responsible access can support the development of safe and trusted AI applications.

3.      Innovation at Scale: Access to datasets, models and toolkits can support startups, researchers, students and developers.

4.      AI-enabled Governance: Integration with Digital Public Infrastructure can facilitate the development of population-scale AI solutions for governance.

5.      Viksit Bharat 2047: Responsible utilisation of AI as a horizontal and cross-cutting technology can support improvements in quality of life and India's broader development ambitions.
