Current relevance:
The Ministry
of Health & Family Welfare launched the SUMAN Roadmap 2030, a
strategic framework to strengthen maternal and newborn healthcare.
At a Glance:
1.
A strategic framework to strengthen maternal and
newborn healthcare and achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) health
targets by 2030.
2.
Developed by the Ministry of Health & Family
Welfare under the RMNCHA+N framework.
3.
Life-Cycle Approach:
(i)
It Adopts a continuum of care from pre-pregnancy to the
postnatal period.
(ii)
Integrates maternal health with child health,
adolescent health, family planning, and nutrition programmes.
4.
Technology & Digital Health:
The roadmap introduces AI-enabled
labour rooms, the JANANI Portal for digital monitoring, and a
centralised SUMAN Call Centre to strengthen maternal and newborn
healthcare services.
5.
Promotes community participation through SUMAN
Panchayats and Mothers' Picnic initiatives.
6.
Key Targets by 2030:
(i)
Reduce Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) to below
70 per 100,000 live births.
(ii)
Further reduce Neonatal Mortality Rate (NMR) and
Infant Mortality Rate (IMR).
(iii)
Achieve universal coverage of quality maternal and
newborn healthcare.
(iv)
Realise zero preventable maternal and newborn deaths.
