1.THE UN Security Council
expressed "strong concern" as Israel has fired on and wounded UN
peacekeepers in southern Lebanon during intensified fighting, reiterating its
support for their role in supporting security in the region.

(MHA) said that a group of legislators from Manipur, "representing the
Kuki-Zo-Hmar, Meitei, and Naga communities" met in New Delhi and
"unanimously resolved" to appeal to the people of all communities in the
State to "shun the path of violence so that no more precious lives of
innocent citizens are lost".

World Food Day is
celebrated every year on October 16th to raise awareness
about hunger and malnutrition around the world. The day
commemorates the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organization
(FAO) of the United Nations in 1945. The first World Food Day was held on
16 Oct 1981.
6.iFOREST STUDY
India will need over $1 trillion (₹84 lakh crore) over
the next 30 years to transition from coal mining and thermal power plants,
according to a study by environmental think tank iForest.The estimate covers
the costs of phasing out coal mines producing 1,315 million tonnes annually and
shutting down 237.2 gigawatts of coal-based thermal power capacity.
