1. In his address on the first day of the first
session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha
underscored the need to restore Statehood to the Union Territory. Mr Sinha
said, "The government will make all efforts for the restoration of full
Statehood and constitutional guarantees available to a State.

2. The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes
(NCST) has taken cognisance of representations sent to it against a June
advisory of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA), asking state
forest departments to submit action plans on the relocation of villages from
tiger reserves. 

3. The Supreme Court will deliver its judgment on
two issues whether private property would fall within the definition of
material resource of the community under Article 39(b) of the Constitution, and
on appeals challenging the Allahabad High Court verdict holding the Uttar
Pradesh Board of Madrasa Education Act 2004 "unconstitutional".

4. E-MARKETPLACE (GeM):


  • The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) platform
    has added 170 new categories for agricultural and horticultural seeds.

  • This update aims to improve the procurement
    and distribution of high-quality seeds by government bodies and state
    corporations.

  • The platform now offers nearly 8,000 seed
    varieties to ensure availability before the cropping season.

  • The revamped GeM platform promotes efficient
    and timely access to seeds across India.
