1. Odisha
Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced the implementation of the Subhadra
scheme.
Under the scheme, ₹50,000 will be provided over five years to one
crore poor women aged between 21 and 60.
A total of ₹10,000 per
annum 
will be paid in two instalments of ₹5,000 each
on Rakhi Purnima Day and International Women’s Day (March 8).

The world’s second-largest 2,492-carat diamond has been discovered in Botswana
at a mine owned by Lucara Diamond, a Canadian firm. The largest diamond –
3,106-carat – was found in South Africa in 1905, also known as the Cullinan
Diamond.

3. India celebrated its first
National Space Day on August 23, 2024, with the theme "Touching lives
while touching the Moon: India’s space saga." This theme emphasizes how
the country's space missions impact daily life while achieving remarkable milestones,
such as reaching the Moon. The date is significant as it marks the anniversary
of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, which successfully landed on the Moon in 2023.
This achievement made India the fourth country to land on the Moon and the
first to land at the Moon's South Pole.

4. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting is organizing
the first-ever World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES),  in
Goa from 20th to 24th November 2024. This event aims to strengthen India’s
connections with the global entertainment industry, focusing on the economics
of entertainment and new technological advancements.
