The Indian Government has launched a new blockchain initiative called the
Vishvasya-Blockchain Technology Stack, led by the Ministry of Electronics and
Information Technology (MeitY). This project provides a platform for
Blockchain-as-a-Service (BaaS), enabling easy access to blockchain technology
through a large, distributed system across the country. The initiative aims to
support secure, efficient, and permissioned blockchain applications.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Test House
(NTH) and the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) to strengthen the Standards
& Labelling (S&L) Program, promoting energy efficiency in India. The
NTH was established in 1912 and operates under the aegis of the Department of
Consumer Affairs, Government of India.

 

3. Amid China's aggressive posture in the Indo-Pacific,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi underlined in Brunei that India supports a
"policy of development, not expansionism", and emphasised the need to
respect "freedom of navigation and overflight".

 

4. The Centre and the Tripura government signed a
peace agreement with two insurgent groups - National Liberation Front of
Tripura and All Tripura Tiger Force - in the presence of Union Home Minister
Amit Shah.

 

5. The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways
(MoRTH) has developed a Geographic Information System (GIS)- based software for
real-time monitoring of wait times at highway toll plazas, which it says will
allow commuters to check congestion at the level of specific lanes to ensure
smoother traffic flows.

 























6. The Aparajita Woman and Child (West Bengal
Criminal Laws Amendment) Bill, 2024 (Aparajita Bill) also introduces death as
the maximum punishment in all cases of rape and changes how cases of rape are
to be investigated and tried - by a Special Task Force and Special Courts in
every district respectively.
