1. The
defence minister inaugurated a new Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC)
of the Coast Guard in Chennai. He also inaugurated two new Coast Guard units –
the Regional Marine Pollution Response Centre (RMPRC) in Chennai and a Coast
Guard Air Enclave in Puducherry.
2. New research
reveals that zebrafish can fully heal a severed spinal cord, with survival and
adaptability of severed neurons being crucial for healing, while stem cells
support but do not lead the process.
3. Recently,
after former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resignation, St Martin’s
Island came into controversy over its lease to another nation. St Martin’s
Island is situated in the northeastern Bay of Bengal, close to the border
between Bangladesh and Myanmar.The island is 9 kilometers from the southern tip
of Bangladesh’s Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf peninsula.
4. Uttarakhand has
become the first Indian state to launch a Gross Environment Product (GEP)
Index, an innovative metric designed to assess the ecological impact of human
development. The GEP Index evaluates four key environmental components: air
