NEWS : A Mock Drill on Pandemic Preparedness conducted under National One Health Mission

 

WHAT’S IN THE NEWS ?

Exercise aimed to evaluate the readiness and response of the National Joint Outbreak Response Team composed of experts from human health, animal husbandry and wildlife sectors

 

Vishanu Yudh Abhyaas (Virus War Exercise)

  1. Vishanu Yudh Abhyaas:
    • A five-day mock drill conducted in Ajmer district, Rajasthan.
    • Conducted under the National One Health Mission (NOHM).
    • Aim: To assess pandemic preparedness and response to zoonotic disease outbreaks.
  1. Zoonotic Diseases:
    • Diseases transmitted between animals and humans.
    • Examples: Avian influenza, Nipah, Zika.
    • Caused by viruses, bacteria, parasites, and fungi.
  1. Objective:
    • To evaluate the readiness and response of the National Joint Outbreak Response Team (NJORT).
    • NJORT includes experts from human health, animal husbandry, and wildlife sectors.
  1. Outcome:
    • Provided insights to improve India's preparedness for zoonotic disease outbreaks.
    • Promoted a coordinated and efficient approach across multiple sectors.
