on “Traditional Knowledge for Sustainable Livelihoods” from July 29-31, 2024,
in New Delhi.
About
First STI Conclave on “Traditional Knowledge for Sustainable Livelihoods”
1.
The International Science, Technology, and Innovation Centre for South-South
Cooperation (ISTIC) under UNESCO, along with the Council of Scientific and
Industrial Research (CSIR), including its Traditional Knowledge Digital Library
Unit (CSIR-TKDL Unit) and the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology
(CSIR-IICT).
2.
Focus Areas: The Conclave covers diverse topics
including biodiversity, traditional cultural expressions, integrative health
and research, national and international policies on traditional knowledge
(TK), intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and related issues and South-South
Cooperation
3.
Goals of the Conclave: Its primary objective is
to enhance understanding and build skills in:
i) Digitizing and preserving
traditional knowledge
ii) Intellectual Property and
people’s rights
4.
The Conclave provides a platform for participants from countries like
Indonesia, Philippines, Nepal, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Malaysia,
and India to share challenges and best practices related to traditional
knowledge.
5.
It emphasizes the need for collaborative learning and expanding partnerships to
tackle regional development challenges through sustainable practices based on
local knowledge.

ISTIC-UNESCO

ISTIC is a UNESCO Category 2 Centre, hosted by the Malaysian Government since
2008. It serves as an international platform for sustainable programs and
services to support South-South Cooperation.
