NEWS : Spices Board Unveils Comprehensive Scheme to Boost Spices Export and
Cardamom Productivity
WHAT’S IN THE NEWS ?
The Union Ministry of
Commerce and Industry has approved a Spices Board scheme, ‘Sustainability in
spice sector through progressive, innovative and collaborative interventions
for export development’ (SPICED), for implementation during the remaining term
of the 15th Finance Commission, up to 2025-26.
SPICED
Scheme :
Aim: Enhance spice exports, improve
productivity of cardamoms, and upgrade post-harvest spice quality for export.
Duration: Up to 2025-26, under the 15th
Finance Commission.
Key
Components:

Mission Value Addition: Focus on value-added spice products.
·
Mission Clean and Safe Spices: Promote high-quality and safe spices.
·
GI Spices Promotion: Support for Geographical Indication (GI) spices.
·
Spice Incubation Centres: Encourage entrepreneurship in spice sector.
Target
Groups: Farmers'
groups, SC/ST communities, exporters from NE region, SMEs, first-time
applicants.
Eligibility: Exporters with Certificate of
Registration as Exporter of Spices (CRES).
Special
Focus: Farmer
Producer Organizations (FPOs), Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for improving
post-harvest quality and exportable spice surplus.
Transparency: Geo-tagging of scheme
activities, publication of fund status, and beneficiary details on Spices Board
website.
