News: India releases second tranche of INR/Nu 5 billion to Bhutan for GyalSung Infrastructure Project

 

What's in the news?

       India has recently issued a second instalment of Rs 500 crore transfer to Bhutan, which is quite close to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the country a few days back, where a set of productive meetings have taken place, most with positive outcome.

       On his bicontinental state trip Prime Minister Modi promised both solidarity and assistance in the nation’s development projects in the long run and he presented a big sum of Rs 6.5 billion for immediate use.

       India is the major development partner that feels committed to honouring its undertaking toward a second instalment of financial assistance of the GyalSung Project for a summation amount of five billion Indian Rupees / Ngultrum.

 

Financial Support of India:

       India has provided a grant of Rs 2Billion to Bhutan for the Gyalsung Infra Project.

       The first tranche of the grant of Rs 1Billion was presented recently by the Indian Ambassador to Bhutan.

       The grant is in addition to India's commitment to provide planning assistance of Rs.50Billion to Bhutan.

 

GyalSung Infrastructure Project:

       The project aims to empower the youth of Bhutan and build a strong foundation for the country's future.
