NEWS :  ISRO’s SSLV-D3 successfully launches earth observation satellite EOS-08 into orbit

 

WHAT’S IN THE NEWS ?

ISRO’s successful launch of the EOS-08 satellite using SSLV-D3 marks a significant achievement in Earth observation technology.The satellite, equipped with advanced payloads and technologies, will enhance capabilities in infrared imaging and GNSS-R-based remote sensing.It will contribute to various applications including environmental monitoring and disaster management.

 

RO’s EOS-08 Satellite Launch:

  • Date: August 16, 2024.
  • Launch Vehicle: Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV-D3).
  • Launch Site: Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC), Sriharikota.
  • Technologies: Integrated Avionics System, flexible solar panels, advanced antennas.
  • Payloads:

Ø  EOIR Payload: Captures images in Mid-Wave IR (MIR) and Long-Wave IR (LWIR) bands.

Ø  GNSS-R Payload: Supports ocean surface winds and soil moisture monitoring.

  • Mission Life: 1 year.
  • Applications: Environmental monitoring, disaster management, remote sensing.
