1. The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has cleared
major defence deals for building nuclear submarines indigenously and buying 31
MQ-9B remotely piloted aircraft from the United States. The CCS also cleared
the acquisition of 31 Predator drones from the US-based General Atomics under a
Foreign Military Sales contract between the two governments. 

 2. The Union Cabinet approved the development of the
National Maritime Heritage Complex in Gujarat's Lothal. Union Information &
Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the project aims to showcase
India's 4,500-year-old diverse maritime heritage. 

3. Over 95 per cent of households possess a telephone
or mobile phone in India, while just 9.9 per cent of households possess a
computer including desktop PCs and laptops, the Comprehensive Annual Modular
Survey 2022-23 released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme
Implementation (MOSPI) showed. 

4. India is currently witnessing a surge in mental
health disorders. According to The Lancet Psychiatry Commission, over 197
million people suffer from conditions such as depression, anxiety and substance
abuse. Economic growth has created new opportunities, but it has also
intensified societal pressures and personal expectations.

Indian Airforce Day

Recently,
the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF) was celebrated at Marina
Beach, Chennai, featuring an airshow.

IAF was founded on October 8, 1932, as an auxiliary
air force of the British Empire.

Purpose – To honor the bravery, dedication, and sacrifices of IAF

Humsafar Policy

Union
Minister of Road Transport & Highways launched the Humsafar Policy.

Aim – To ensure access to standardized, well-maintained, and hygienic
facilities along National Highways and Expressways

Registered service providers will be able to avail a waiver of renewal
fees for access permissions, if they maintain an average rating of 3 or higher.
