1. India accepted France's invitation
to cochair the AI Action Summit. This summit will be the third of its kind,
following meetings focussed on AI safety in the U.K. (2023) and South Korea
(2024).
2. U.S. President Donald Trump
announced additional tariffs on imports from China, Canada, and Mexico amidst
what the White House referred to as a national emergency caused by
"illegal aliens and drugs".
3. New Zealand raised concerns over
the Cook Islands' planned strategic partnership with China,
citing security and consultation issues, as China’s influence
in the Pacific grows.
4. The discovery of potash
reserves in Rajasthan and Punjab could reduce India’s import
dependency, boost domestic fertilizer production, and enhance
agricultural self-reliance, but environmental concerns remain.
