1. The multi-billion-dollar deal for six advanced conventional
submarines under project-751 has crossed a major milestone with the bid by
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), Mumbai, and Germany's TKMS
(Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems) having cleared the technical evaluation conducted
by the Defence Ministry.
2. India's first human-operated underwater submersible, part of the
Deep Ocean Mission, will explore resources and marine ecosystems to support the
blue economy. Launched in 2021, the mission includes projects like Samudrayaan
and tools like the Ocean Mineral Explorer (OMe 6000) for deep-sea exploration.
