1. The Chagos
Archipelago, historically part of Mauritius, was separated by Britain in 1965
during colonial rule and now forms the British Indian Ocean Territory, hosting
a U.S.-British military base on Diego Garcia. Sovereignty talks between Britain
and Mauritius are ongoing, addressing historical claims and geopolitical
interests.

2. Trichophyton
indotineae, a drug-resistant fungal species causing dermatophytosis, has
sparked global concern over its regional naming, as dermatologists argue it
promotes stigma and contradicts WHO guidelines. The fungus, identified in South
Asia, is now a worldwide health issue due to its rapid spread and antifungal
resistance.

3. The VVER
1,000-MWe reactor vessel for the sixth unit of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power
Project (KKNPP) is being transported to the construction site in Tirunelveli
district. 

4. The Central
government brought an amendment to Rule 93(2) of the Conduct of Election Rules,
1961, to restrict public access to election-related records. 

5. The Defence
Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) announced that the indigenously
developed third-generation fire-and-forget anti-tank guided missile, Nag Mk-2,
and the entire system was ready for induction into the Army
