1. Kerala's
Kappad and Chal beaches have received the prestigious Blue Flag certification,
awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) for meeting
stringent criteria on water quality, safety, environmental management, and
education.
2. The Animal
Welfare Board of India (AWBI), established in 1962 under the Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals Act, ensures enforcement of animal welfare laws and advises
the government on related issues. Recently, AWBI partnered with NALSAR
University to train volunteers in animal care laws and procedures.
3. The
US is working on measures to relax rules that have been limiting civil nuclear
cooperation with India, as part of advancing the Indo-US nuclear deal.
4. India’s
economic growth is projected to decelerate in 2024-25, with the Gross Domestic
Product (GDP) expected to grow at 6.4%.
