prior sanction from the government to take cognizance of an offence against public
servants will apply to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) too.

4. The Supreme Court has ruled that drivers with a
Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) license are permitted to operate transport vehicles
weighing up to 7,500 kg without needing any additional authorization under the
Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, heading a five-judge
bench, concluded that mandating separate licenses for these vehicles goes
against the legislative intent.
5. Anglo-Indian community leaders recently gathered to
advocate for the restoration of reserved seats for Anglo-Indians in the Lok
Sabha and State Assemblies. They requested that the government carry out a
caste census to better represent their population, emphasizing the community’s
socio-economic challenges and the need for stronger political representation.
