1. Recently, the Indian government
has increased the windfall tax on domestically
produced crude oil from Rs 3,250 per tonne to Rs 6,000 per tonne. Windfall taxes are designed to tax the profits a company derives from an
external, sometimes unprecedented event — for instance, the energy price-rise
as a result of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
2. Recently, India participated in
the 86th session of the Executive Committee of Codex
Alimentarius Commission. The Codex Alimentarius
Commission (CAC) is an international food standards organization established in
May 1963, jointly by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World
Health Organization (WHO).
