1. An expert
committee appointed by the Union Environment Ministry is tasked with examining
the views and objections of the state governments. on eco-sensitive areas (ESA)
in the Western Ghats, is likely to visit Goa soon to deliberate on the state's
submissions. 

2. The current
nationwide shortage of di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), with police being deployed
to handle crowds at some distribution centres for this fertilizer, is
symptomatic of a larger problem, involving both short-term planning failure and
price controls harking back to an earlier era. 

3. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has brought back
nearly 130 metric tonnes of gold owned by it and kept it in the safe custody of
the Bank of England, changing its strategy of safe-keeping the gold reserves.
Gold brought back from overseas has resulted in a 60 per cent increase in the
RBI's domestic gold holding in the same period.

4. ASIAN BUDDHIST SUMMIT:

The Government of India, in partnership
with the International Buddhist Confederation, is hosting the inaugural Asian
Buddhist Summit in Delhi, inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu.

This two-day event aims to unite Buddhist
leaders, scholars, and practitioners from various traditions across Asia to
encourage dialogue and tackle contemporary challenges faced by the Buddhist
community.

·        
The summit is themed “Role of Buddha
Dhamma in Strengthening Asia” and supports India's Act East Policy, emphasizing
collective spiritual growth in the region.

5. SIMHACHALAM TEMPLE:

·        
Foundation: The
Simhachalam temple, dedicated to Lord Narasimha, was built in the 11th century
by the Gajapati rulers of Odisha.

·        
Early Contributions:
Kulottunga Chola I contributed in 1087, and the Vengi Chalukyas renovated the
temple around the same time.

·        
Further Enhancements:
Narasimha I of the Eastern Ganga Dynasty improved the temple in the early 13th
century.

























·        
Royal Support:
Krishna Deva Raya of the Vijayanagara Empire visited and supported the temple
in 1516.
