1. The PM-JANMAN
package (2023) aims to uplift 75 PVTG communities across 18
states and 1 UT by ensuring 100% saturation of essential services
like housing, water, healthcare, and education with a ₹24,104 crore
budget by 2025-26.
2. New Zealand’s Mount Taranaki (Taranaki Maunga) was granted legal
personhood, recognizing its cultural and spiritual
significance to Māori and ensuring its rights, protection,
and governance by Māori iwi members and
the government.
3. Sakkarakottai and Therthangal, two bird
sanctuaries in Tamil Nadu’s Ramanathapuram district, have been designated as
Ramsar sites, bringing the State’s total to 20—the highest number of Ramsar
sites in India.
4. The Sundarbans, the world's largest mangrove forest spanning India and
Bangladesh, plays a key role in biodiversity, climate regulation, and coastal
protection, showcasing resilience despite facing multiple threats, crucial for
conservation.
5. The Economic survey projected a
growth rate of 6.3-6.8 per cent for 2025-26 on the back of a "strong
external account, calibrated fiscal consolidation and stable private
consumption", and said domestic growth levers will be more important than external
ones in the coming years for the Indian economy.
6. Tigers in India occupied 30 per cent
more area between 2006 and 2018 and they shared space with about 6 crore people
in 45% of tiger-occupied habitats, new research published in Science journal
said.
