WHAT’S IN THE NEWS ?
Exercise
aimed to evaluate the readiness and response of the National Joint Outbreak
Response Team composed of experts from human health, animal husbandry and
wildlife sectors

Abhyaas (Virus War Exercise)
 - Vishanu Yudh Abhyaas:
 
 
  - A five-day mock drill conducted in Ajmer
      district, Rajasthan.
 
  - Conducted under the National One Health
      Mission (NOHM).
 
  - Aim: To assess pandemic preparedness and
      response to zoonotic disease outbreaks.
 
 
 - Zoonotic Diseases:
 
 
  - Diseases transmitted between animals and
      humans.
 
  - Examples: Avian influenza, Nipah, Zika.
 
  - Caused by viruses, bacteria, parasites, and
      fungi.
 
 
 - Objective:
 
 
  - To evaluate the readiness and response
      of the National Joint Outbreak Response Team (NJORT).
 
  - NJORT includes experts from human health,
      animal husbandry, and wildlife sectors.
 
 
 - Outcome:
 
 
  - Provided insights to improve India's
      preparedness for zoonotic disease outbreaks.
 
  - Promoted a coordinated and efficient
      approach across multiple sectors.
