Current relevance:

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Government of Madhya Pradesh are set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of India's first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ), Phase-I, at Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.


Highlights:

Objectives:

1.        Strengthen Domestic Telecom Manufacturing

Build a world-class manufacturing ecosystem for telecom equipment and allied technologies.

2.      Promote Indigenous Innovation

Encourage indigenous design, manufacturing, and development of next-generation telecom products and solutions.

3.      Support National Vision

Advance the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat by strengthening India's domestic telecommunications manufacturing ecosystem.

 

Projected Outcomes:

1.        Telecom Value Chain:

To serve as a catalyst for the growth of telecom equipment manufacturers, technology companies, MSMEs, start-ups, and other stakeholders.

2.      Investment & Industrial Growth: Attract investments and foster innovation across the telecom sector.

3.      Employment Generation: Create substantial employment opportunities and promote regional industrial development.

4.      Supply Chain Resilience: Strengthen the telecom manufacturing supply chain.

5.      Global Manufacturing Hub: Position India as a global hub for telecom manufacturing and innovation.
