INS Sunayna was at Seychelles from 10-12 July to participate in Operation Southern
Readiness - 2023.
Operation
Southern Readiness - 2023:

It is a capacity building exercise
conducted by Combined Maritime Forces
(CMF).
○
CMF is a multinational naval partnership.
India is not a member country of CMF.
Aim:
●
To promote security, and prosperity across
international waters.

Main focus areas:
●
Defeating terrorism
●
Preventing piracy
●
Encouraging regional cooperation
●
Promoting a safe maritime environment.
Participating
Nations:
●
The joint training exercise is being
attended by representative delegations from USA, Italy, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and ship participation from
UK, Spain & India.
Importance:
●
It reinforces the Indian Navy's commitment
to maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region.
●
It marks the maiden participation of an
Indian Navy ship in CMF exercise.
