About the NITI NCAER Portal

The NITI NCAER States Economic Forum portal is a digital platform that offers a comprehensive collection of state-level data spanning from 1990-91 to 2022-23.

The portal is designed to support evidence-based policymaking and research by providing in-depth data on social, economic, and fiscal parameters of all Indian states.

Developed By: The portal has been developed by NITI Aayog in collaboration with the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER).


Launch By:The portal will be launched by the Ministry of Finance, aiming to enhance transparency and data accessibility for better policymaking.


Objective / Aim of the Portal


1. Centralized Data Hub:The portal aims to serve as a centralised repository for tracking and analyzing state-level trends over the past three decades.


2. Supporting Policymaking: It provides crucial data that supports researchers, policymakers, and academics in making comparative analyses, crafting development plans, and formulating informed policies.


Encouraging Data-Driven Discussions: The portal is intended to foster discussions around evidence-based policy decisions and promote fiscal transparency.


Boosting Cooperative Federalism: The platform seeks to encourage cooperative federalism by offering transparency and shared access to key economic and fiscal data.

Key Components of the Portal

State Reports: The portal provides detailed state reports for all 28 states, structured around various parameters including demography, economic structure, socio-economic factors, and fiscal indicators.

Data Repository: The portal offers access to a vast data repository, categorised into five key verticals: Demography, Economic Structure, Fiscal, Health, and Education.

State Fiscal and Economic Dashboard: This dashboard presents key economic trends for each state and visualizes the data through graphs, summaries, and downloadable datasets, making the data easily accessible.

Research and Commentary: The portal includes expert analyses, research articles, and commentary on state finances, fiscal policies, and long-term economic trends, supporting in-depth academic and policy research.

Historical Data Access:The portal offers 30 years of historical data, from 1990-91 to 2022-23, enabling the tracking of trends over an extended period.
